About Us

Who We Are

The Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance (NPGA) is a non-profit, gambling neutral organization dedicated to improving the lives of Minnesotans affected by problem gambling.

Our office is in Roseville, Minnesota and our work covers the state of Minnesota where we conduct educational and awareness programs for community and professional groups and train professionals in a variety of fields to recognize and/or deal with problem gambling. Staff, board members and general members speak to community groups, and engage in advocacy at the state and federal level for funding to support problem gambling prevention and treatment. NPGA is the Minnesota Affiliate to the National Council on Problem Gambling and works with the National Council and other affiliates across the country to help prevent and treat problem gambling.

NPGA represents an “alliance” of individuals and organizations with one common belief; that program gambling is a serious public health problem that is both treatable and preventable. We advocate for public forums and policies that benefit problem gamblers and those affected by them.  Membership is open to anyone interested in this topic, and membership dues support the educational outreach conducted by the agency.
